There was a big argument (disagreement, dispute) and female (a woman or girl) lawmakers (someone who makes law) walked out (left the place). They do not want men to have more than one wife. A man said the law was OK because divorced (no longer married) women get (receive, can have) 30% (thirty per cent) of the house and money.
A man said this was Kenya’s tradition (belief, or way of doing something that has been used for a long time). He said women should know men have other wives.
A newspaper said Kenya wasn’t modern (progressive, new). It said the new law was backwards (taking Kenya to past). It wants families to be stronger.
A woman said the law is unfair (not fair, unjust) because the second wife will take (get) all the money. She said men are afraid (feel fear) of angry women.
