Many people charge their cell-phones overnight (during night) while they are sleeping. But it usually takes just 2 hours to charge the battery on our phones. How much does it cost if we leave our phones plugged (see picture above↑) after those two hours while we sleep? And what is the cost of leaving the charger plugged into the wall even if the phone is not attached (connected) to it?
Some studies have shown that “if you unplug your charger from the wall when not in use, over a year you will save the same amount of energy that you need to take a hot bath. In other words (To say it in a simple way), you are not consuming (using) much electricity by leaving the charger in the wall.
When a phone is connected to the charger, the average amount of electricity that is used rises (increases) to 3.68 Watt (three point sixty eight Watt). After the phone is completely charged, that number reduces to 2.24 (two point twenty four) Watt. For a normal household (house; all the people who live together in a house), the study showed an average (not big or small) cost of $5.30 (five dollars and thirty cents, Or five point thirty dollars) to charge a smartphone every year.
