Your dog can “tell” if you look happy or angry. Dogs can discriminate (understand the difference) between happy and angry human faces.
Scientists trained a group of 11 dogs to distinguish (understand the difference) between images of the same person with happy or an angry face.
Scientists then tested the dogs ability to discriminate between different images they used in training.
The dogs could pick the angry or happy face by touching a picture of it with their noses many times.
The study showed that the animals could use what they learned about human faces during training.
Study showed that dogs are able to (can) distinguish between different faces in people they know.
It is not clear why dogs recognize (know) different faces in humans.
Next time I don’t feel well, I may ask Jack to help me.
