Is technology good or bad?
If your kid is always on the phone, playing on the Wii, downloading music, or editing videos, be happy because you are included in (are one of) the “TFF Families.
TFF Families are those that usually use more sophisticated technology and know much more about technology than the average person. They have a positive mindset (attitude; the way they think about things) and show less anxiety (concern; worry) about the future. TFF parents believe their children are developing necessary skills that will enable them to navigate (find different parts of something)— and even save—the world; and they are the most protective of their kids, since they know the dangers of the technology world.
Not all parents are happy with the increase in technology.
Amy, a 34-year-old mother of two kids, complains that, “I really dislike that every minivan now has a TV in the back. Being in the car is a great time to talk with your kids. It’s one of the few times you have their undivided (complete) attention, when in reality my girls are exposed to all sorts of media. …. I just want to make sure that they don’t grow up thinking that the interactions they have online or with the TV can take the place of the ones you have with real humans.”
Still some busy families are actually more communicating with each other when using technology.
Aside from using technology to communicate with others and make daily activities easier, technology is being used to make progress in the medical field.
One of the things technology will most likely to fix at some point (in the future) is poor eyesight. A company has developed something called the Ocumetics Bionic Lens, a device (small machine or tool) that can replace your natural lens to give you perfect vision.
How is technology doing for you?۰ This entry was posted in Reading stage 1 by Parviz with no comments yet
