Paul ran a marathon. He could not believe it. It was a big achievement (success).
Running a marathon is not easy. Paul had to train all year long. He would wake up every morning. He would put on his running shoes, drink a lot of water, and run out the door.
Paul ran for hours. He stopped only when he finished. He ran again at night. He had a lot of energy. He never got tired.
On the day of the race, his father and mother went with him. They drove him to the competition. Some of his friends were there, too.
They said, “He is a good runner.”
Running the marathon took a long time. Paul ran 26 miles. It took 5 hours and 30 minutes to finish.
Paul was exhausted (very tired) when he finished. He was really thirsty. He drank a gallon of water. He was still thirsty.
Paul didn’t win the marathon. But, he was happy. Because, running a marathon had been his wish.
He cannot wait to run it again next year.
